About the Group
The Isle of Wight Group formed officially in 2008, is quite small and does not have a formal regular meeting venue. We have roughly 9 meetings per year, usually on Saturday afternoons. Our AGM is held in Carisbrooke Church Hall, which is on the High Street in Carisbrooke and quite central on the island but our group meetings are informal and held at the houses and gardens of individual members. This may be on any part of the island. We tend to arrange only about three meetings in advance.
If the weather is kind we look at the garden and plants of our hosts and/or hostesses, usually in late spring, summer and early autumn. At other times we may have a topic such as a plant genus where we discuss our favourites and how they grow for us, or we may bring along a specimen that is giving us particular pleasure at that time.
At every meeting we have a plant swop. We also have a plant sales table to raise funds for the group.
