| Description |
The group was formed in 1995 and now has about 50 members from all parts of North Yorkshire and adjacent counties. We are a very friendly group and keen to welcome new members. Our gardens and gardening experience vary greatly, but we are all enthusiastic and interested to hear about each other’s ideas and problems. Meetings are at 7.30 pm on the 4th Friday of the month from September to June (excluding December) at the Village Hall, Morton-on-Swale, North Yorkshire (on the A684 about half-way between the A1 and Northallerton). There are illustrated talks on a variety of garden-related topics, plant sales and seedling swaps, garden visits and a regular newsletter. The evening talks include refreshments, a raffle and a plant sale. Sometimes speakers also bring plants for sale, and there is nearly always a table of plants brought by members, which may be donated or sold on a 50/50 basis. Garden visits are mostly organised between May and August. We try to include visits all over our region and to give members a chance to visit gardens they might not normally see. The newsletter gives advance details of these visits. Subscriptions to the North Yorkshire Group are £8 single or £12 for two members at the same address. You are welcome to try us out, free, before deciding whether or not to join. People who only want to come to an occasional talk normally pay £2. |
