Description	The Group’s name dates from the time when, as the second HPS Local Group to be established, we did cover the whole of the southern counties. As other groups have come into existence our membership is now drawn mainly from Surrey and south London, but members also come from further afield, including Middlesex, Kent, Sussex, Hampshire, Wiltshire and even France. We hold five lectures a year, during the winter, including our renowned Christmas party in November. We usually have two plant sales a year, in spring and autumn. All these activities normally take place in Mayford Village Hall, near Woking. Occasionally we arrange ‘garden safaris’ to which we invite a neighbouring Group. These culminate in a plant sale in one of the gardens. For the last two years our later plant sale has been part of a local Flower and Summer Show. From May to September, we arrange visits to gardens in different counties, travelling by car. Starting in 2009, we have organised coach trips to gardens further afield. In 2010 we are hosting the HPS Autumn Weekend on behalf of the national society, from 10th to 12th September. Our subscription is £3.00 per year for single membership and £4.00 for joint membership (two members at the same address).
