Seed Distribution

Picture showing the cover of the order form

The list of available seed was sent to all members around the end of November 2009, well before the Christmas postal rush. As in all other years you do not need to ask for the list. No seed will be sent out until the beginning of January.

Every HPS member may order 20 packets of seed, with donors getting an extra 10 packets, as long as supplies hold out. Once the seed runs out, provided you have listed sufficient substitute numbers and have requested us to do so, we will add Distributors Choice. Otherwise, you will only get what is available. We will not return cheques if we can not provide exactly what you want. The seed itself is free - freely given by donors. The modest charge is to cover the cost of handling applications, sorting the seeds and distribution. For the scheme as a whole, this cost is considerable.

2009 SEED LIST

Please note that seed is only available to HPS members and that orders can ONLY be accepted on the official order form.

If you are not a member of the HPS, see what you are missing - there are over 1300 varieties of seed available!

INSTRUCTIONS FOR DONORS

Crocosmia jupiter

Collect, name, dry and clean your seed (in that order).

  1. Write out an alphabetical list of seed you are sending, making sure that the name on the list is the same as on the seed, and that your name and address are on the list.
  2. Put your seed into labeled packets, either ones you have to hand, or you can order them from the seed distribution coordinator (see below).
  3. Send it to the seed distribution coordinator at the address given in the service contacts at the back of the newsletter to arrive not later than 31 October to ensure inclusion in the list. Seed arriving after that will not be wasted - it goes into the Distributors Choice packets which are used to make up your order if you have asked for it.

Envelopes for sending seed for distribution can be had by sending a self addressed LABEL with a note to say how many envelopes you require and enclosing one “Large 2nd class” stamp per 20 envelopes. These are supplied free of charge but they must only be used for sending seed to the HPS seed distribution scheme.

Many thanks to all donors. We look forward to receiving your seed and hopefully we will have some new donors again this year.

Please note: The address of the seed distribution coordinator is given in the “contact information” section of the HPS Newsletter. If you do not have a newsletter, please use the Contact Us facility.
