'My Chelsea Story'
Matthew Wilson

The Riverside Centre, Trafalgar Room.
This talk will be based on Matthew's experience of designing a Chelsea Flower Show garden, and will refer to the relocation of one of the gardens to the Isle of Wight Hospice. As well as designing gardens for Chelsea.
Matthew worked for the RHS as curator at Hyde Hall garden and then at Harlow Carr. Subsequently he became RHS Head of Gardens Creative Design.
He is now a regular participant on Radio 4's Gardener's Question Time.More can be found about his work on

Please start to collect plants to sell. This is our main fundraising event of the year.

There will be a seedlings & cuttings exchange instead of the usual plant swap, so please start to sow/set aside seedlings or cuttings to bring along.

Eddington Nursery Plant Fair
We hope to have a stand at this event. At present the date is not fixed but it is likely to be at the end of May.

Mainland trip to Tylney Hall Hotel Garden, Rotherwick, Hook, Hants RG27 9AZ.
This RHS Partner Garden has extensive grounds and landscaped gardens including gardens designed by Gertrude Jekell and Selden Wornum.
A group tour of the gardens has been arranged led by one of the gardeners, for which there will be a charge of £10 per person, including tea or coffee.
A visit to a nursery is also planned.
Please let Clare know if you are interested in coming and indicate if you are happy to be a car driver.

Birgit Ackroyd
has invited all HPS members and their partners to a preview of her exhibition as part of the Island's Open Studio event. This will be an opportunity to see Birgit's garden as well as her paintings. The garden and studio will be open from 11am until 8pm, with tea during the day and wine later.

at the Riverside Centre, Newport. If you want to find out more about Julie Ritchie, there is an article about her and her nursery in Gloucestershire in the May edition of the RHS journal 'The Garden'.
