Hardy Plant Society

HPS Summer Gardens Day 2010

On Saturday, July 10th 2010, the West Yorkshire group hosted a Summer Gardens Day. All society members were invited to apply for tickets and many members travelled long distances for the day or made a weekend of it by staying over and seeing other gardens on the Friday and/or Sunday.

Three gardens were visited. Pat Clarke's garden in Harrogate, Chris Abbott's garden, Kelberdale by Knaresborough, and York Gate, Adel, Leeds. The first two belong to HPS West Yprkshire group members and the third to Perennial, the charity that provides for people working in or retired from a career in gardening or a related trade. All of the gardens had plant stalls and many members sought out and purchased interesting plants for their own gardens.

It was also an opportunity for members to meet with old friends from different parts of the country or to get to know new ones, that shared a common interest in gardening.
