The Derbyshire group received a gold medal for their display garden. The theme of the garden was foliage, demonstrating the colour form and texture of many different plants. No flowers were used at all! All of the plants, apart from three, were grown by Derbyshire group members - a major achievement when the show is so late in the season. Keeping the foliage in such good condition was a challenge. All the plants were hardy. The stand used Heucheras, Phormiums, Ferns, Grasses and even some Mind Your Own Business in the cracks of the paving. A water feature held some Equisetum japonicum.
The display attracted some attention and hopefully served its educational purpose. Perhaps it attracted some new members for the HPS as well.
