Birmingham Gardeners Weekend 2009

Some 17000 people attended the Gardeners Weekend on 5 & 6 September in King’s Heath Park, Birmingham. As usual there were a number of commercial stalls selling perennials and bulbs at reasonable prices and stalls offering a range of garden accessories. This year featured a rather expensive but very enticing Italian market. Overall the event seemed slightly smaller than previous years.

We had a larger stall than previous years in a different location in the Societies Marquee, with increased space for the plant sales area. Our floral display attracted a lot of interest and favourable comments. It was encouraging to see the number of Hardy Plant Society information leaflets that were taken by visitors. It will be interesting to see if this attracts new members.
