Hardy Plant Society

Bakewell Show 2010

The Derbyshire Group were awarded a Silver Gilt medal for their display of bog and moisture loving plants. The show was held on 4th and 5th August 2010.

A large amount of interest was shown by the visiting public with many comments about how unusual it was to find such a display topic. It was hard work keeping the plants in good condition through a very dry summer as most were grown by members of the group.

Of special interest were a group of hardy Sarracenias which were buzzing with trapped insects.

Other plants included were Ligularia amplexicaulis ‘Britt Marie Crawford’ with lovely dark leaves and duster orange flowers, Hosta ‘Guacamole’ which seems to shrug off the slugs and snails, and a Petasites variegatus with it's huge yellow spattered leaves.
