The Scottish and Northern Borders Groups of the HPS were awarded a gold medal at the Dundee show in September this year. This festival had its best year ever and was a great success. The award was particularly pleasing as some of the team were new and learning on the job.
Sylvie Field designed the stand in the form of an island bed with three circlular shapes overlapping each other and looked like a small garden. It was built by Stewart Gallacher. Plants were arranged and placed by Jo Goldsworthy, who is also a Flower arranger with a National reputation, so we were very lucky to have her in the show group.
One of the main attractions, of the stand, was that the public could walk round the complete exhibit rather than just look at it from the front.
We also had good quality information boards that had an arrangement of large flower photos, taken from this website and enlarged by a local printer to approx A1 size, laminated for future use they provided a colourful frame for further photos of garden visits and information about the group and the National Society.
The arrangement of the boards was an important element in the ehibit and carried out by Sylvie Field and Stewart McKee. As usual there are other members who provide huge amounts of time and effort to make the stand a success and staff it for the time of the show and all thanks to them.
