Morning visit to Elworthy Cottage, Elworthy, Taunton
A small nursery at the eastern end of the Brendon Hills in West Somerset, specialising in unusual herbaceous perennials, especially hardy geraniums, geums, grasses, pulmonarias, astrantias, crocosmias, violas & primroses. The one acre garden has been developed to blend sympathetically with the natural beauty of the surrounding countryside and to encourage wildlife. Island beds have been created to accommodate the evergrowing collection of plants, chosen to give year-round interest. The garden also contains many interesting and unusual trees and shrubs. http://elworthy-cottage.co.uk
Afternoon visit to Yeo Valley Organic Garden and Garden Café, Blagdon, North Somerset.
Yeo Valley has grown over the last 50 years from a smallholding into the UK’s no.1 organic dairy brand. Their organic garden is one of only a handful of ornamental gardens in Britain to be certified organic by The Soil Association. It has been developed over the last 18 years to turn six and a half acres of land into a diverse, seasonal patchwork of ornamental and edible planting areas. The café overlooks the garden, serving lunches and afternoon tea, all made with fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced in and around the valley (not included in the cost of the trip). https://www.yeovalley.co.uk/the-valley/places/place/our-organic-gardens

Coach Trip
Morning visit to The Old Rectory, Thruxton, south of Hereford.
The four acre garden is set around The Old Rectory and enjoys panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. It is a young garden, created since 2007, with a formal garden of two acres, woodland borders, an orchard, glasshouse, wildlife pond and a vegetable parterre. It has good spring interest, is particularly good in June and has strong late summer colour in September. http://thruxtonrectory.co.uk/
Afternoon visit to Kentchurch Court, Pontrilas, Hereford. The gardens have developed over the years since John Lucy Scudamore inherited the house in 1815. Much of the 25 acre gardens roots can be found in the picturesque landscape style, popular during that period. The borders in the walled garden house a comprehensive collection of herbaceous perennials including geraniums, digitalis, nepeta, rudbekia and asters. Many of the plants are grown on the Estate and are available for sale in the nursery. There is a vegetable garden, rhododendron walk and a deer park. Tea, coffee and homemade cakes are available in the café (not included in cost of trip). http://www.kentchurchcourt.co.uk/gardens.html
